The Foraminiferal Response to Climate Stressors Project: Tracking the Community Response of Planktonic Foraminifera to Historical Climate Change

نویسندگان

چکیده

Planktonic Foraminifera are ubiquitous marine protozoa inhabiting the upper ocean. During life, they secrete calcareous shells, which accumulate in sediments, providing a geological record of past spatial and temporal changes their community structure. As result, provide opportunity to analyze both current historical patterns species distribution turnover this plankton group on global scale. The FORCIS project aims unlock potential by synthesizing comprehensive database abundance diversity observations living planktonic ocean over more than 100 years starting from 1910. will allow for unravelling impact multiple global-change stressors acting times, using an approach that combines statistical analysis response environmental with numerical modeling based ecological traits.

Community-level phenological response to climate change.

Climate change may disrupt interspecies phenological synchrony, with adverse consequences to ecosystem functioning. We present here a 40-y-long time series on 10,425 dates that were systematically collected in a single Russian locality for 97 plant, 78 bird, 10 herptile, 19 insect, and 9 fungal phenological events, as well as for 77 climatic events related to temperature, precipitation, snow, i...

Hydrological Response to Human Activities and Climate Change in the Ghaleh-Shahrokh Watershed

Determining the relative contributions of human activities and climate change to variations of runoff in basin is very important for sustainable management of water resources. In this study, seven methods were used to determine these relative contributions in the Ghaleh-Shahrokh watershed as the main upper catchment of Zayandeh-Roud River. These seven methods can be divided into two main catego...

Sensitivity of planktonic foraminifera to Mid-Pleistocene climate change in the SE Atlantic

In this paper we describe a record of planktonic foraminiferal relative abundance changes in Core T89-40 retrieved from the Walvis Ridge, SE Atlantic. The planktonic foraminiferal relative abundance changes reflect past (sub)surface water hydrography during the Mid-Pleistocene Transition. Statistical analysis shows that most variability in the planktonic foraminiferal relative abundance record ...

Spatial dynamics of Phlebotomus sand-fly ecological condition in response to climate change

Background: Changing the climatic pattern can lead to major changes in the geographical distribution of infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of climate change on the favorable bio-climatological zone for leishmaniasis sand-fly living which is a vector of Leishmania in Iran. Materials and Methods: Data of the climatic factors affecting the biology of sandflies...
